I was sworn in earlier this month as a member of the Van Nuys Neighborhood Council with gratitude, humility and confidence at the Van Nuys City Hall.
In my life, no success has come without dedication and hard work, and being on the Van Nuys Neighborhood Council will not be any different in that respect. I will not forget the support of my fellow Van Nuys businessmen.
My Dad always said to me: “A father knows he’s a success when he turns and looks at his son or daughter and knows that they turned out better than he did.” I hope today my Dad thinks this way about me. I am saddened that my parents could not attend the swearing-in, but I know my kids were on FaceTime with them so they wouldn’t miss a beat.
After the ceremony, my father said to me “Kambiz Jan, I love you very much. Your mother and I are so proud of you. We are so proud of the son you’ve become, the husband and the father you are.”
And I’m also so proud of my wife Arezoo, the only one who leaves me both breathless and speechless at the same time, and my amazing three daughters, Adena the president and leader, Adiela the artist designer, architect and finally my lawyer my Daniela. As always, I’m indebted to my wife and my three daughters. The pleasures of family life can seem like a brief holiday from the crowded calendar of my businesses, but I have treasured them all the more, and can’t imagine my life without them and the happiness they give me.
It’s an honor to be on the Van Nuys Neighborhood Council and to represent the people of Van Nuys and their welfare. I am truly honored to live in California and in the great city of Los Angeles that is best place in the world.
Since I’ve never been called a man of few words, let me say this simply — let’s go to work, and bring back the old glory of Van Nuys to its citizens and businesses.
Let me make this pledge to you right here and now. For everyone who is trying to do the right thing, for all those people in government who are honoring the pledge to uphold the law, honor the Constitution, and work hard for the people, I promise that my office is open to listen to the day-to-day needs and concerns of the people of Van Nuys. I promise to give my all to my elected position and make sure your issues and concerns are fully addressed at the local, state, and national level.
G-d blesses America, and may G-d protect our troops, and all the people who give back to their communities around the US, particularly the people of Van Nuys.
Thank you very much,
Kambiz Merabi
