History of the Manor — Sir Frederick Peel inherited the estate from Prime Minister, Sir Robert Peel in 1850 and commissioned an extravagant private residence to support his political career. The house was designed to host the political, commercial and social meetings that would have filled the diary of a man of his standing. The design included landscape gardens that are thought to be the work of the first president of the Landscape Institute, Thomas Mawson. In 1872, Sir Frederick extended the property with the construction of an imposing clock tower.

After the war, the Jacobs family purchased the estate and founded a care home for people with learning difficulties. An outstanding work was brought to an end in February 2007 due to the financial investment needed to upgrade the building for demands of the 21st Century.

In March 2008, Hampton Manor was acquired by hoteliers, Derrick and Janet Hill. After a major planning application, permission was secured to convert the Manor into a luxury hotel and conference centre. The consent includes the construction of an atrium over the Manor court yard to house a restaurant, the development of a purpose built banqueting centre and introduction of a new entrance off Shadowbrook Lane.

Hampton Manor is just 3 miles from the NEC (www.necgroup.co.uk) and Birmingham Airport (www.birminghamairport.co.uk), making it an ideal place to stay if you are catching an early flight, going to a concert or exhibiting at the NEC. under the leadership of son and son-in-law, James Hill and Jonny Malcolm. The combination of operational experience and fresh vision has combined to create the offering that stands today. The family are committed to the success and development of the business with a ten year plan for the restoration of the grounds soon to begin. The estate will also benefit from a new banqueting facility that will replace an existing building that is now redundant. The new facility will cater for larger weddings and events with its own kitchens, bar, stage and dressing rooms. The building is a green development with a landscaped roof that will form part of the restoration and development of the grounds.  James or Jonny are usually on duty and are always happy to help with any queries.

The business also benefits from the professional leadership of Head Chef, Martyn Pearn and Restaurant Manager and Sommelier, Bruno Pelletier.
