SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA — Park 1039, a unique and welcome new addition to the San Luis Obispo burgeoning culinary scene has opened its doors in downtown SLO.
Showcasing a curated collection of domestic and international cheeses, fine wines, rare beers, and hand-picked culinary gems, Park 1039 is a paradise for epicureans.
With a location in the heart of downtown, ‘Park’ has already become a favorite destination for locals and a wonderful discovery for tourists. Throughout the day customers stroll in for an exceptional lunch, pick up a gourmet picnic to-go, and discover the perfect bottle of wine.
The passionate team at Park 1039 is set to ‘wow’ its guests with their in-depth knowledge, and love of their craft. Visitors to Park 1039 can experience friendly and professional service on the verdant, adjacent Parklette surrounded by olive trees, or inside the market at the ‘Tree Table’ or bar. Park 1039 will be presenting a Chef’s Counter tasting menu experience, winemaker dinners, and more, in the near future.
Helming the kitchen at Park 1039 is Chef Brendan Collins. A Cal Poly graduate, Collins honed his craft and creativity during his time at celebrated L.A. restaurants including Providence, Otium, Craft, and Mélisse. Most recently he opened three restaurants in three years in Santa Barbara for the acclaimed restaurant group, Acme Hospitality.
Park’s Sous Chef Sarah Carlisle has an impressive résumé as well, having cooked at many top eateries in Portland, Oregon such as Marché, Quaintrelle, and Renata. Her skills are not limited to the kitchen and she can often be found foraging for wild herbs and making her own salt to accentuate special courses.
Park 1039 Wine Director Jenna Isaacs originally trained as a chef and became a certified sommelier in 2018. She recently achieved CSW in 2019 and is working towards her Master of Wine certification. Isaacs is also studying to become a French Wine Scholar but doesn’t play favorites – the wine program at Park features wines from around the world, representing 27 countries. Most importantly, the wines are expressive of their terroir, and almost always organic or biodynamic.
Market Director Holly Dolezal spent years training in fine dining, including time at The French Laundry and Calistoga Ranch. Her passion for fine foods, cheese, and all things gourmet have illuminated Park 1039’s market with treasures both local and imported. From Olio Geraci Olive Oil to La Maison Du Chocolat, Dolezal has created a truly luxurious marketplace.
