Van Nuys, CA — The San Fernando Valley Employer Advisory Council (SFV EAC) will hold it’s annual labor law seminar and networking breakfast on November 11, 2011 from 7:15am until 11:45am at the Airtel Hotel at 7277 Valjean Ave. Van Nuys, CA 91406. This upcoming event is designed for HR professionals and business owners with Lonnie Giamela and Bette Hall as the Primary Guest Speaker.

This program will serve three purposes:

  1. Identifying the ten most common leave management and wage hour problems for California employments
  2. Empowering attendees with a review of applicable law and the policies that must be implemented
  3. Educating attendees on preventative practice and risk management tools.

The cost is $75 for SFV EAC members, $85 for nonmembers and $95 at the door. Cost includes breakfast buffet, parking and seminar materials. Participants are welcome to bring their own questions. Among the subjects discussed will be: Employee files – how many files to keep? •What to keep in those files and where to keep them •I-9 Forms – would you survive an audit? •Payroll Records •HIPAA- Medical and Workers’ Compensation files •Access to files •Supervisor files – What do you do when your employee or a lawyer demands you give them copies of Personnel files? The San Fernando Valley EAC is one of the more than 50 local Employer Advisory Councils throughout the State that offers numerous workshops and seminars. Provided in partnership with the Employment Development Department, these workshops/seminars keep local employers upto- date on current issues, trends and legislation.
