LOS ANGELES, CA — Following the successful first partnership with Pete Wentz and Fall Out Boy back in October, the Casa Vega team is excited to announce the next installment of their series of taco collabs. Christy Vega, owner of the 64-year-old LA dining institution, is teaming up with longtime friend Dave Grohl of Foo Fighters to create an all-new limited-edition taco, launching tomorrow (Tuesday, December 1). With LA County’s current restrictions on dine-in, the Foo Fighters taco will be available for take-out only via Casa Vega’s drive-thru for the time being.
The Foo Fighters taco ($7) is inspired by Dave’s passion for smoking meat (they’re bringing a smoker to Casa Vega specifically for this taco!) and features smoked brisket in a Mexican spice rub and drizzled with backbeat BBQ sauce, topped with Mexican coleslaw, pickled onions, and cilantro, served on a homemade flour tortilla. There will also be a special Foo Fighters cocktail called Los Luchadores Foo with La Gritona Reposado tequila and fresh lime juice, topped with Modelo Especial ($14). The menu can be found here.
The profits from each taco will be donated to No Us Without You, a charity providing food security for undocumented back of house staff and their families created by Va’La Hospitality in the early weeks of the pandemic. New to this collab, there will also be special Foo Fighters x Casa Vega tee shirt sold on Casa Vega’s website, with the proceeds also being donated to No Us Without You.
Casa Vega will be sharing videos and fun behind-the-scenes content with the band on their Instagram @casavegarestaurant throughout the month.
