Sherman Oaks, CA — One of the newest trends in social media and high tech has captured the attention of the Blue Dog Beer Tavern of Sherman Oaks, California who will offer free QR dog tags to pet owners on December 8. From noon to 1 pm on that Thursday, pet owners and their dogs can stop by to order a QR dog tag to attach to pet collars and ensure complete, detailed and up-to-date information to reunite loving owners with their lost pets. This merger of community service, dogs and high tech will be available to any customers who fill out an order form. Innovative, detailed and easy to scan from any smart phone with a QR app, dog owners will feel secure that these tags will contain many details, such as cell numbers, email addresses or medical information, which is less available with traditional dog tags. Still, the tags, although designed for smart phone scanning, will have the traditional name and telephone number listed in plain view.

Paul Scrivano, an owner of the Blue Dog, feels a deep love and concern for dogs who go astray, which has inspired him to use modern technology to solve an age-old problem. As noted by Lisa Hutchison, Executive Director of Warren Eckstein’s Hugs and Kisses Animal Fund, “I am thrilled that the Blue Dog is bringing attention to and launching this important community service. Nothing gives me greater satisfaction than helping lost dogs by reuniting them with their owners.”

Blue Dog will provide QR tags free to customers who come in and fill out a simple form. As reported by KOMO Channel 4 (Seattle ABC affiliate), “When a paid promotion was launched in Seattle over 10,000 tags were purchased.” The reporter noted how fortunate for the dogs and owners that this technology puts a pet an email away and prevents dogs from being forever lost but rather being returned with their owners.”
