Some land is made is made for golf. Bandon, Oregon is one of those places, and Bandon Crossings offers Great Golf & Great Value. Chosen by Golfweek as one of Oregon’s Best Places to Play in 2008, and included in GOLF Magazine’s Top 10 new golf courses for 2007, it has already won national acclaim. The 2009 PGA Travel Guide lists it as a “Favorite Hidden Gem”. Bandon Crossings is the other Great Bandon Golf Course!
A beautiful golf course near the Southern Oregon Coast, Bandon Crossings is a delightful change of pace from many coastal golf courses. It can be enjoyed either walking or with a power cart, and is maintained in excellent condition. It is home to “18 Unique Experiences”. It boasts features akin to both links golf and park-like settings, as it takes it shape from the land itself. This unique 340 acre property boasts a beautiful, fun and challenging 6855 yard Dan Hixson Design. It is located just 5 miles south of Bandon on US Highway 101 at 87530 Dew Valley Lane.
Bandon Crossings follows the natural contours of ancient sand dunes as the play roams through links land, over streams, and into open coastal forest of firs, cedars, and madrones. In addition to a spectacular view, Bandon Crossings usually enjoys better weather than the predictions, and is often nicer than the weather in the town of Bandon or right along the coast. Summer or winter, this course has excellent drainage and firm fairways.
Bandon Crossings Golf Course is an 18 hole public golf facility in Bandon, Oregon. It is not affilitated with Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, Bandon Dunes, Pacific Dunes, Bandon Trails, or Old Macdonald golf courses, which are located about 10 miles north off Highway 101.
“We’re Rex & Carla Smith of Eugene, Oregon. We have a vacation home in Bandon, and spent several years looking for a challenging, yet affordable, 18-hole golf course in this area. We love Bandon Dunes, Pacific Dunes, and Bandon Trails, but not everyone’s budget allows them to play there all the time, and a true golf addict (i.e. Rex) always wants another great course to check out. We found a beautiful piece of land in the “banana belt” of Bandon – a little off the ocean, with gentler weather, and beautiful vistas.
Then we discovered that the golf course wanted to be built. So we gathered a team: Dan Hixson, Designer, Tony Russell, Golf Course Contractor, and Brant Hathorn, Superintendent. And together, we made it happen in an amazingly short time. And so, Bandon Crossings Golf Course was created.”
