As the closure of the I-405 freeway approaches, we wanted to make sure that businesses located in the Los Angeles metropolitan area are preparing for the closure. Possible preparations for employers and businesses include:
- Arrange deliveries ahead of normal scheduling. By sending items out early, businesses can ensure that their products will have minimal delivery delays.
- Stagger employee shifts. Have a few employees work full shifts instead of scheduling multiple employees to work shorter shifts. This way there are fewer chances of employees being delayed by traffic and less cars on the road.
- Allow for telecommuters. Permitting employees to work form home will help reduce the amount of cars on the road.
- Schedule local employees. Scheduling employees who live close to your business will assist in reducing the amount of time cars are on the road traveling to work.
Los Angeles County traffic conditions on local streets and freeways are expected to be severe, with significant, multi-hour delays. The I-405 freeway will reopen on Monday, July 18, 2011 at 5am, Ramps and connectors will be reopened by 6am.
Thanks again for your partnership. We appreciate your efforts in helping us manage traffic. For the latest information and updates, visit metro.net/405.
