Chairman Lazarovitz

VAN NUYS, CA — The Chairman of the Van Nuys Neighborhood Council’s Public Safety Committee has declared the council’s recent Child & Sex Trafficking Summit a huge success. On July 30, 2014 the Van Nuys Neighborhood Council hosted a community forum partnering alongside the FBI and LAPD to address this major problem plaguing the San Fernando Valley.

“Child prostitution and the trafficking of minors is one of our top concerns in Van Nuys, and our successful summit will give birth to new legislation in Sacramento targeting the problem. We are going to formulate the language for a Community Impact Statement (CIS) at the next council meeting, then turn over our findings to our state lawmakers. We plan on traveling to Sacramento to lobby our representatives, and get new laws on the books to address this terrible issue,” said Councilman Josef Lazarovitz.

The mission for the Van Nuys Neighborhood Council (VNNC) is to serve and protect the public’s interest in serving the Van Nuys community by encouraging public participation and debate in local government issues. The Van Nuys Neighborhood Council district is home to 103,770 residents in an 8.99-square-mile neighborhood.
