Food Fare

By Jon Bogart

Thursday March 3rd, Barker Hangar at the Santa Monica Airport

Food Fare is returning to Barker Hangar to celebrate 50 years of health and wellness.  This event features gourmet food and drink samples from over 100 Los Angeles-based food and drink purveyors.  It’s the 37th consecutive year that Food Fare will feature the wonderful cacophony of choices to satisfy the most discriminating palate with gourmet offering of premium wines, spirits and food samples, to go with silent auction opportunities and specialty vendors offering an array of choice of merchandise for purchase…all to benefit Planned Parenthood. With the bar already set high, the 2016 PPLA Food Fare delivers some of the best food Los Angeles has ever seen, in a single space.  Entree samples, sushi, oysters, desserts, small batch wines, spirits, craft beers are all available.  LA Weekly has called Food Fare “the most eclectic fundraising food fest you’ve never heard of”. Well in 2016 we’re making sure everyone knows about it.

Proceeds raised benefit the healthcare and education initiatives of Planned Parenthood  Los Angeles through its 20 health centers throughout L.A. County.

Food Fare challenges participating chefs and caterers to “kick it up a notch” in epicurean categories such as comfort, fusion, desserts, ethnic and more.  Participants serve customer’s favorites, chef’s choices and even  prepare dishes exclusively for Food Fare.  Attendees are amazed at the quality and the quantity of gourmet food and drink assembled for the event.

That’s what make Food Fare so different from the other fund raisers.  It’s at Barker Hangar.  Take a look at the photo below at grasp its sheer size.  Realize that participating businesses are doing this pro bono, offering their goods and services to support the cause.

They believe in the mission of Planned Parenthood.  It’s a “love fest” that delivers, year after year.
