Northumberland House, a magnificent Victorian Grade II listed building adjacent to Trafalgar Square, has been completely restored and has reopened its doors to the public. The Italian inspired building has a wealth of history dating back to 1887 when it was first opened as the 500 guest room “Grand Hotel”. The building was later requisitioned by the Crown until a recent multi-million pound investment reinvigorated the elegant space.

He uses the traditional ingredients and techniques of great Japanese cuisine, alongside bold new recipes. The ultra modern minimalist setting contrasts with the grandeur of the rest of the building.

EVENTS AT NORTHUMBERLAND HOUSE: 8 Northumberland — T: 020 3263 1011 Recently used as the backdrop to the film W.E, co-written and directed by Madonna, 8 Northumberland comprises a magnificent ballroom, four large banqueting spaces, plus over 20 small meeting rooms. The sculpted, high-ceilinged Ballroom is described by English heritage as “the grandest example of a Victorian ballroom in existence today”. Many of the original features have survived, including four bay-isles to either side of the room, an Italian cinquecento-style carved apse, and hand-painted stained-glass windows. The Ballroom’s grand interior caters for up to 1,000 guests for a cocktail reception and up to 450 guests for a dinner.
