LOS ANGELES, CA — The Metro Board last week authorized free fares for
all Girl Scouts in uniform on Oct. 29, 2011 in honor of their 100th anniversary celebration, “Girltopia,” at the Los Angeles Convention Center. The Convention Center is just a short walk from the Metro Blue Line Pico/Chick Hearn Station. There are about 40,000 Girl Scouts in Los Angeles County. About 10 to 12 percent are expected to utilize the free service. The estimated cost will be about $10,000.
