Los Angeles: Detectives from the Los Angeles Police Department’s South Traffic Division are investigating a fatal hit-and-run collision that resulted in the death of a 34-year-old bicyclist.

On Sunday, June 1, 2025, around 11:10 p.m., a silver Chevrolet Camaro was traveling westbound on Century Boulevard at a high rate of speed when it struck the victim, Jose Villalobos, who was also traveling westbound on his bicycle. Following the crash, the driver of the Camaro made a right turn onto San Pedro Street, continued northbound, and then turned westbound onto East 98th Street, fleeing the scene without stopping to render aid or identify themselves, as required by law.

Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced Villalobos deceased at scene. He was a resident of Los Angeles.

South Traffic Division detectives are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information about the collision to come forward and provide details regarding this felony hit and-run.

Motorists are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.

On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $50,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
