San Francisco, Calif. – The California Democratic Party (CDP) today announced Governor Gavin Newsom will kick off the speaking program at the 2019 CDP Organizing Convention on Saturday, June 1st, 2019 in San Francisco.  After a welcome to San Francisco by former Speaker/San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown and current San Francisco Mayor London Breed, Governor Newsom will be the first of a number of statewide elected officials and leaders to deliver remarks to the assembled delegates. Saturday’s session will also feature special remarks from U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. 

“We are very excited to hear from our statewide leaders and our national leaders who represent California,” said Alexandra “Alex” Gallardo Rooker, acting Chair of the California Democratic Party. “We have had a Blue Wave Rolling across California as a result of the hard work and steadfast governance from these incredible public servants. With their passion and leadership, we can carry that wave across the rest of the country in 2020.” 

Saturday Speakers will include: Governor Gavin Newsom; Lt. Governor Eleni Kounalakis; Attorney General Xavier Becerra; Controller Betty Yee; Secretary of State Alex Padilla; Insurance Commissioner Ricardo Lara; Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond; and State Treasurer Fiona Ma. 

Senate President Pro Tem Toni Atkins, Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, and California Congressional Delegation Chair, U.S. Rep. Zoe Lofgren will address the Legislative Leader Lunch Program Saturday afternoon.
