Council President Emeritus & Honorary Mayor of Van Nuys George Christopher Thomas has officially launched a think tank dedicated to civic engagement.
“Focused on getting things done in government, the “Civic Ambassadors” are the brain children of a new generation of action minded individuals with an ongoing duty to the community. We recognize the existence of red tape and bureaucracy, and plan on using our decades of experience to cut through it. In the end, there is no need for partisanship or personal political fights when we are all working on the same common goal, which is to make the American Dream available for all people,” said Thomas.
George Christopher Thomas served on the Van Nuys Council from 2010 – 2019, and was elected an unprecedented four terms as Van Nuys Council President. Thomas currently works in the newspaper and media business, is an ordained minister that performs marriage ceremonies, and is a commissioned Notary Public. Thomas is a direct descendant of two signers of the Declaration of Independence, as well as two Presidents of the United States. Thomas previously worked for a United States Congressman from 1997 – 2001, spending two years on Capitol Hill doing legislative and press work. Thomas is an official member of the Sons of The American Revolution (SAR), having proved his ancestor patriot (Jonathan Stevens) was a Massachusetts Minutemen that fought at the Battle of Lexington & Concord, as well as the Battle of Bunker Hill.
