Sacramento, CA – Last month, California Democratic Party (CDP) acting Chair Alexandra “Alex” Rooker released the following statement regarding the passing of former Congressman John D. Dingell, Jr.:
“It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of one of America’s greatest Democratic members of Congress, former Representative John D. Dingell, Jr. of Michigan. From his role presiding over the vote for Medicare to helping lead the fight for the Civil Rights Act, he led the charge on legislation that improved the lives of all Americans. Congressman Dingell’s warmth, wit, and biting humor will be greatly missed. He had the longest congressional career in history before passing peacefully yesterday at the age of 92. We will miss him and send our deepest sympathies to Debbie and the entire Dingell family.
