The “Start School On The Right Foot” back to school shoe drive collection point opened last week, organized by the Dignity Memorial® network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. Gates, Kingsley & Gates Praiswater in Canoga Park is asking employees, businesses and residents to donate new and gently used children’s shoes to assist the Guadalupe Center in Canoga Park serving families in need as children head back to school.
“Most of us remember the excitement of getting ready to go back to school as a child, preparation that often involved a shopping trip for new shoes,” said James Biby, market director of the Dignity Memorial network. “As more families in our communities are struggling economically, simple pleasures and basic needs like these often go un-met. Organizations are strained trying to meet the demand for clothing and other supplies.
We hope that by helping these groups collect shoes for children, we can ease the strain and help everyone start the school year on the right foot.” Gates, Kingsley & Gates Praiswater will be open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.through September 30.
