The Mid-Valley Community Police Council is comprised of local business owners, Corporate Community Stakeholders and Area Residents who share a commitment to support the LAPD Van Nuys Area Police Station. The MVCPC, a 501 © 3 non-profit organization was founded in 1978 by Mr. Sid Miller and a small group of proactive citizens who believed that crime prevention was everyone’s responsibility. The MVCPC is proud to have grown substantially over the years and continues their focus to raise funds for supplemental training, special programs, station improvements and equipment for the Van Nuys Area Station. In addition to conducting fund raising events throughout the year, the MVCPC relies on Business and Corporate Partners in the Community through in-kind donations or tax-deductible cash donations.
The special events hosted by the MVCPC are heralded as highlights within the community fostering positive relationships between the LAPD and our citizens. Some of our most popular events include the Citizen’s Recognition Luncheon and the Annual Cops & Cowboys Dinner Dance. These events successfully bring Officers and Citizens together in addition to providing us with the ability to fund many necessary requests from the Station for items or services not provided by the City of Los Angeles. The MVCPC also takes pride in recognizing Officers who have been identified as leaders with exceptional commitment to serving the community. Commendations and recognition are awarded on a quarterly and annual basis and are incorporated into the MVCPC general meetings for the entire community to attend.
We have honored hundreds of “men and women in blue” who go far and beyond their pledge to “Protect and Serve”. From the beginning, our commitment to support LAPD has enabled us to fund many supplemental training classes for Officers and Detectives, specialized equipment and gear, state of the art technology for some of the Patrol Cars, improvements to the physical plant at the Station, the creation of a sophisticated meeting room for the Community, funding for LAPD’s Youth Programs and much, much more. We remain confident that what is provided by the Mid-Valley Community Police Council enhances Public Safety for all. This “partnership” between law enforcement personnel and the community is an investment in our future!
