LONDON, ENGLAND – This Christmas, young visitors to The Savoy will be able to disappear into a magical world of grand adventures, unbelievable parties, festive magic, and a mysterious black cat, with the launch of Once Upon A Savoy Christmas, a children’s story, written especially for the hotel.

Written by Virginia Webb, Director of Marketing & Brand at The Savoy and a former London primary school teacher, Once Upon A Savoy Christmas is a beautifully festive tale. It tells the story of a little girl called Grace, who stays at the hotel with her parents and finds herself on a wonderful Christmas Eve adventure through the magic of Savoy Christmases both past and present. Children will be able to experience the story for themselves at The Savoy with three interactive storytelling sessions taking place at the hotel on three Saturdays in December. At these special sessions, theatre actress Joey Holden will bring Once Upon A Savoy Christmas to life with an interactive and fun retelling of the story that is bound to delight children of all ages.

Accompanying the story is an intricate miniature paper model of the hotel, on display in The Savoy’s foyer. Designed to illustrate the narrative, Nicola Dobrowolski, a UK based Artist and Master Craftsmen of Paper sculpture at the Michelangelo Foundation, has created a truly magical 3D illustrated watercolor model artwork that takes hotel visitors on a visual journey through time, crossing three eras of The Savoy. The story was also edited by Lydia Fallon and a special flipping book was designed by Amy Marshall, both members of the Savoy’s marketing team.

Once Upon A Savoy Christmas will take place at 5.30pm on Saturday 3rd, 10th and 17th December. Lasting approximately 45 minutes, and ideal for children between ages 5 and 11, the storytelling sessions will also include a festive snack.  Attendance is free of charge, but The Savoy is encouraging anyone who either attends them or enjoys reading and listening to the story themselves to make a donation to The Children’s Literacy Charity.
