“Pittsburgh is a special place, one that helped build America and America’s game,” said Keith Cossrow, NFL Films vice president and head of content. “NFL Films has been searching for the perfect subject for our first immersive-format documentary, and we found it in Western Pennsylvania. We are grateful to the Pittsburgh Steelers, U. S. Steel, the University of Pittsburgh, Kamin Science Center and many others for the opportunity to tell this story as the city prepares to host the NFL Draft for the first time ever.”
“The 2026 NFL Draft gives our region an unprecedented opportunity to share Pittsburgh’s football history and the legendary athletes who have shaped it,” said Dan Rooney, co-chair of the 2026 NFL Draft Football Legacy Committee and vice president of business development and strategy for the Pittsburgh Steelers. “We were honored to work with NFL Films to celebrate the contributions of Hall of Famers and local football icons from our region. With this film, we hope to inspire future generations, instill community pride and highlight Pittsburgh’s unique place in the history of the game.”
“The Football Town sets the tone for everything that’s to come as we build toward the 2026 NFL Draft,” said Jerad Bachar, president and CEO of VisitPITTSBURGH. “By launching this film in February, we’re beginning the celebration early – sharing the stories, pride and football legacy that define Western Pennsylvania and will be on full display when Pittsburgh hosts the Draft in April.”
“Pittsburgh has much to celebrate in 2026, and so does U. S. Steel,” said U. S. Steel president and CEO David B. Burritt. “This year marks U. S. Steel’s 125th anniversary and we are thrilled to help make The Football Town a part of the celebration. Like molten steel, football flows through the past, present and future of Pittsburgh. It unites us and reminds us that hard work and teamwork can help power an industry – and a country.”
