Metro will host a virtual community meeting to share updates on the $668 million G Line Improvements Project. With partial funding from voter-approved Measure M, the project will enhance safety and reliability for transit riders between North Hollywood and Chatsworth. Upgrades will enable zero-emission buses (ZEB) to operate every five minutes, reducing average end-to-end travel times by 12 minutes or 22 percent.

PROJECT BACKGROUND:
The Metro G Line is an 18-mile dedicated bus rapid transit corridor connecting North Hollywood and Chatsworth. It serves thousands of commuters daily and provides a direct link to the Metro B Line subway. As Metro’s largest route to feature battery-electric ZEBs, the G Line is also one of the largest ZEB bus rapid transit (BRT) systems in the United States. Since 2021, these advanced buses have delivered significant benefits to San Fernando Valley residents, including zero tailpipe emissions, quieter rides and improved performance.
The project delivers critical infrastructure upgrades, including:
- New bridges over Vesper Avenue, Sepulveda and Van Nuys boulevards, featuring a new elevated Van Nuys Station and railroad-style gates at 13 key intersections.
- Increasing capacity for an additional 10,000 riders.
- Upgraded traffic signal controllers that grant G Line buses greater priority at intersections, keeping lights green longer to cut travel times.
- Comprehensive enhancements to the G Line bike and pedestrian path, including pavement rehabilitation, new restriping and new solar lighting for improved safety and visibility.
- Comprehensive infrastructure improvements designed to boost safety for bus riders, motorists, pedestrians and cyclists across the San Fernando Valley.
