Three New Metro Stations Expand Rail Service, Connecting Downtown Los Angeles to Beverly Hills

WHAT: Join Metro for the official grand opening of the D Line Extension Section 1 as Mid-Wilshire takes a major leap forward in public transit.

Connecting Western Avenue to La Cienega Boulevard, the D Line Extension will transform how commuters, residents and visitors move through Los Angeles, arriving just in time for the FIFA World Cup 2026™. It marks a major milestone for LA transit and is the only new subway opening in the United States this year.

Three new underground stations—Wilshire/La Brea, Wilshire/Fairfax and Wilshire/La Cienega will extend service west from Koreatown through neighborhoods including Hancock Park, Windsor Square, the Fairfax District and into Beverly Hills. Riders will enjoy a seamless, single-seat trip from Union Station to La Cienega in just 21 minutes.

Following the opening event, community events will be held at the three new stations as well as the Wilshire/Western station. Attendees will be treated to delicious bites from neighborhood restaurants, DJs from KCRW will be spinning tunes and there will be fun activities for the whole family to enjoy.
