Carnaval Mission Bay

SAN DIEGO, CA — The Bahia Resort Hotel’s Brazilian Carnaval returns to Mission Bay this summer for the second year in a row on Thursday nights beginning June 26. The celebration of Brazil’s most famous holiday includes live Samba music, dancers, and an all-you-can-eat beach barbecue buffet featuring Feijoada and other authentic food from the South American country.

The Bahia last year hosted eight Carnaval parties, welcoming an average of nearly 200 guests per show. This year’s Carnaval run will include 10 shows through August 28. For more information and tickets, visit Mission Bay Carnaval.

“Due to the rousing success of last year’s Carnaval and all the buzz and demand it created, we decided to expand with two addition shows,” said General Manager Jim Greene. “The pageantry of Carnaval is simply wonderful and we can’t wait to host these celebrations for both resort guests and members of the community.”

Local Carnaval entertainment specialist SOL e MAR will provide the Samba rhythms and dancers. Bahia Executive Chef Rob Famulare and his team will create the buffet, which includes Picanha (grilled Churrasco-style beef), Feijoada (pork and black bean stew), Moqueca de Peixe (Brazilian fish stew), and Brazilian Beer Marinated Chicken.

Guests 21 years of age and older will receive upon entering a caipirinha, the sugarcane-based national cocktail of Brazil. A cash bar is available for the duration of the event from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m.

Tickets are $45.00 for adults ($64.00 for non-resort guests) and $17.00 for children 5-12 years of age ($29.00 for non-resort guests). Children under five years of age are free. The price includes taxes and gratuity. On-site parking is complimentary.

Room packages, group tickets, and military discounts are also available.
