NORTH HOLLYWOOD, CA – The Valley Film Festival is releasing fifty $10 discount tickets to the public for its locally produced Made-in-the-818 Shorts Program celebrating San Fernando Valley filmmakers at 5pm, Thursday, September 18, 2025.

Headlining the program is the World Premiere of The Runner staring Ian Ousley (Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender) and directed by Tony Tacheny. ‘The Runner’ was profiled this summer in The Hollywood Reporter and is currently negotiating distribution with ShortsTv

THE RUNNER

Next are two New York Film Academy–Burbank Productions – El Bar De Hernando and Cast and Brew. Directed by Andres Felipe Bernal Farias and Maria Gomez, ‘El Bar De Hernando’ had its World Premiere this summer at the Cine Gear Film Series where it won an Audience Choice Award. ‘Cast and Brew’, another NYFA production directed by Priscilla Zanni Bertran, is an ensemble comedy about what happens on film sets when the coffee does not flow.

DRIFTIN' ON A MEMORY

Driftin On A Memory and Accomplication bring Valley Boy Misadeventures to the big screen. Directed by Angel Ruvalcaba Jr., ‘Driftin On A Memory’ delves into brotherhood in a Chicano family dealing with their Patriarch after he suffers a relapse, while an uncle on the run from the law’s plans suffer an ‘Accomplication’ when his nephew unexpectedly turns up at his hotel room.

In a heart-wrenching change-of-pace, The Experience by Kathy DiStafano, delves headfirst into a man at a retreat center comes face to face with himself and grief he’s been suppressing since the 1940s.

Finally, Kylene Wong Harrington’s animation The Shadow of Snow rounds out the program with a tale about a fox demon who spares the life of a young monk and the two form an unlikely bond that ends in the ultimate sacrifice. This will mark its West Coast Premiere after screening in Italy, Spain, Mexico and the East Coast.

Films may not play in order described.
