During the holidays, Jessica Resendíz is busy doing what she does best – infusing community and culture into her artwork. Jessica recently launched her Reina Holiday Collection, which features a vibrant design of a queen inspired by Our Lady of Guadalupe on ornaments, wrapping paper, journals, clothing, and art prints.
Born in Mexico, Jessica is a fashion designer and illustrator now based in the Valley who creates artwork that honors her Mexican roots and immigrant story. Known for fine textiles, colorful designs, and intricate craftsmanship, Jessica’s detailed artwork is a powerful medium for storytelling and celebrating traditions.
“My mission is to preserve and cultivate my Mexicanidad and where I come from,” Jessica said. “Through my creative work, I hope to empower and inspire my community and the younger Mexican immigrant generation.”
Jessica’s artwork is often centered around Mexican holidays and traditions – one of her most popular collections, the Dia De Los Muertos Collection, honors Jessica’s personal memories and the day’s cultural significance. “Like the fog that drifts between worlds, this collection honors the beauty of remembrance – where tradition, culture, and memory rise to embrace the living and the departed,” she said. To celebrate Dia De Los Muertos, Jessica also organizes noche de Catrinas LA, a yearly workshop that pays homage to Los Angeles and Mexican culture.
Jessica also uses Instagram to give a behind the scenes look into her life, sharing new designs, vlogs and ‘monthly diary’ posts, events, and the family stories and cultural history that inspire her work. “Through Instagram, I’ve connected with my customers and created a space for people who appreciate Mexican art and culture,” she said.
On Instagram, Jessica recently released a holiday gift guide that highlights small businesses and community brands. “As a small business owner, it’s important for me to use my platform to highlight other small businesses and creators who are creating amazing products and doing great things for the community,” she said.
As Jessica continues to release new collections and share her creative journey, her work remains rooted in the cultural and community values that have shaped her life. Her art serves as a reminder of the beauty that emerges when tradition is honored and heritage is centered.
“My hope is that my art helps people reconnect with their roots and carry their traditions forward with love,” she said.
