Apes Hill, the most elevated golf resort and community in Barbados, is set to unveil a series of new stay-and-play options from this winter, introducing an exclusive way for golfers and visitors to experience the luxury resort.
Spacious three-bedroom golf course and sea view villas, each with a private garden and 30ft pool, will be available to rent for holiday stays from January 2024. Each two-story villa sleeps up to six guests and is enhanced by sweeping ocean vistas, sitting within walking distance of Apes Hill’s full range of facilities as well as being less than ten minutes from some of the island’s most beautiful beaches on both the east and west coasts.
The collection of villas overlooks the feature course, lovingly crafted by the hands of legendary architect Ron Kirby. His par-72 layout takes advantage of some of the island’s finest views across the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean, weaving through native flora, stands of indigenous forest and coral rock to craft a distinctly Barbadian experience.
Complementing Kirby’s layout will be a nine-hole short course – set to open later this year – featuring replicas of some of the sport’s most iconic par-three holes. Meanwhile, the ‘19th hole’ – which takes inspiration from the famous island green at TPC Sawgrass – will be the perfect extra challenge to settle a round on either layout. The ‘20th Hole’ is the resort’s halfway house, serving refreshments to players as they enjoy spectacular views.
Away from the fairways, Apes Hill boasts one of the world’s most complete golf offerings, including a modern clubhouse and restaurant. The recently opened Performance Centre is packed with state-of-the-art technology and designed to develop every aspect of a golfer’s game alongside experienced and qualified coaches.
Resort guests can also enjoy an array of integrated lifestyle amenities from next year, with a racquet complex encompassing tennis and Padel, nature trails for walking and biking, as well as a host of bespoke wellness treatments that include personal training, bootcamps, yoga and Pilates sessions.
Gayle Talma, General Manager of Apes Hill Resort Inc., said: “Our new stay-and-play experiences will be perfect for visitors to the island of Barbados who want to sample a special way of life here at Apes Hill Barbados.
“Our championship 18-hole golf course opened late last year and has been fantastically received, and with further developments such as our short course and 19th hole, not to mention a number of off-course amenities and an exciting real-estate project, we believe Apes Hill Barbados will soon be recognised as the premium golf and lifestyle venue in the Caribbean.
“Apes Hill’s sea and golf view villas deliver a casually luxurious experience, with private pool and stunning ocean views and are perfect for both families and small golfing groups.”
Barbados has enjoyed enduring popularity as a holiday destination for golfers and non-golfers alike, with regular flights from the island to several UK airports. Known for picturesque scenery and a unique culture, guests looking to explore the island between rounds on Apes Hill’s course can look forward to endless possibilities.
Already a popular spot for golfers on the island, Apes Hill Barbados has been transformed, since 2019, by the investment of Canadian businessman Glenn Chamandy. After tasking Kirby with elevating the original course to one of the Caribbean’s best, work continued with respected figures such as Kirby and golf academy designer Tim Cutshall to build a world-class selection of sporting facilities.
