LONDON, ENGLAND, U.K. — Shooters Hill Golf Club is situated in South East London close to Blackheath, not much more than a mile or two from Canary Wharf, Greenwich, and the now famous O2 Arena. Established in 1903, the course offers a true test of golf with its rolling fairways and excellent greens for golfers of all abilities.
The Clubhouse was built in 1873. There are bar and dining facilities together with Men’s and Ladies’ locker rooms. The main bar areas underwent refurbishment in Spring 2009, and together with the “snug” (spike bar) and superbly appointed dining room provide a choice of bars and dining facilities.
Golf was first played here in 1903 when a 9 hole course was opened. In 1907 a full 18 hole course was laid out by Willie Park and completely remodelled in the 1930’s by Messrs Harris and Colt and to this day presents a first Class test of golfing ability.
Shooter’s Hill GC is an attractive parkland course situated close to Blackheath, with superb views across the North Kent countryside. The course is a challenging but fair test of golf, good shot selection is critical for a good score.
The course has a number of challenging holes. The signature hole is the picturesque tenth, which is included in their own “Amen Corner” consisting of three par 3’s each different to the others and each very demanding. Completing these in par is essential to scoring a good round. In a continuing effort to provide the Club with the best coaching available, Dave Brotherton, who has been head Coaching PGA Professional at Shooters Hill for many years, continues to provide teaching facilities for both members and non-members alike.
