Kona Luau
A fun and exciting luau in Kona, Hawaii

Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa  announced the debut of Haleo, a new lu`au dinner and show created and produced by Island Breeze Productions.

“Our number one goal was to offer an entertaining yet educational experience for our guests,” explained Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa general manager Steve Lindburg. “When Island Breeze presented the idea for Haleo, which shares the legacy of the Hawaiian language and stories of Keauhou, we knew it could help accomplish what our guests tell us they want – to learn more about this very special place.”

The story of Haleo – the Voice of Life, celebrates the history of the ahupua‘a (land division) called Keauhou. A journey through a very special time in Hawaiian history highlights the birth at Keauhou Bay of Kauikeauoli who became Kamehameha III, surfing stories of He‘eia Bay, the battle of Kuamo‘o and how Kamehameha III bridged the gap of many ancient traditions as he brought the people of his kingdom into a new era.

Pre-show activities for lu`au guests include the opportunity to meet the entertainers and talk story with them to learn, in advance of the show, some of the stories of Keauhou and the legacy left by Kamehameha III.  Arts and crafts including lauhala weaving and coconut husking can also be enjoyed. With Hawaiian music adding to the magical setting beneath the stars on the Hawaii Lawn, guests then savor a dinner buffet of traditional Hawaiian foods and contemporary favorites prepared by the chefs at Sheraton Keauhou Bay Resort & Spa.

As the sun sets, the journey through Polynesia begins. Music and dance captivates guests as they learn more about the stories and legends of Hawaii and Keauhou that link the past and define the future.
