Metro will temporarily close select lanes and ramps along I-105 to install new overhead sign structures for the I-105 ExpressLanes Project in South Los Angeles County. The closures are a necessary step in converting existing carpool lanes into dual ExpressLanes in each direction between the I-405 and I-605 freeways, a transformation designed to deliver faster, safer and more reliable commutes, including cutting travel times in half for ExpressLanes users.

WHEN & WHERE:
8 p.m. Friday, July 31, to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3

Eastbound I-105 (8 p.m. Friday, July 31 to 10 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 2)

  • Two inside lanes (carpool and adjacent lane) closed between I-405 and Prairie Avenue
  • Only one lane will be open from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday.
  • Ramp closures (7 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Sunday):
    • Northbound I-405 to eastbound I-105 connector ramp
    • Southbound Hawthorne Boulevard on-ramp

Westbound I-105 (4 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 2 to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 3)

  • Two inside lanes (carpool and adjacent lane) closed between State Street and Wilmington Avenue.
  • Ramp closure:
    • Imperial Highway/Wilmington Avenue on-ramp to westbound I-105

Signed detours will be in place to help motorists navigate through the project area.

PROJECT BACKGROUND:
The I-105 ExpressLanes Project will improve mobility and safety along one of Los Angeles County’s busiest east-west transportation corridors.

Project benefits include:
