July 2026 Saw Nearly 26 Million Boardings, 2 Million More than July 2025
July ridership was up year-over-year across both weekdays and weekends. In addition to the Saturday ridership growth, which averaged 694,263 boardings, Sunday ridership grew 8.77% to 597,114 average boardings. Weekday ridership is also up with 903,446 average boardings, up 7.41% over July 2025.
July was a busy month with activities taking place across LA County. In addition to World Cup matches, fan zones and viewing parties, Fourth of July celebrations helped drive ridership in July, including home games for the Dodgers, LAFC, Sparks and Galaxy; events at LACMA; CicLAvia in Hollywood; Monster Jam at Crypto.com Arena; Hilary Duff at the KIA Forum; and the Vans Warped Tour in Long Beach.
Rail Ridership Soars
2025 and 2026 saw the openings of the LAX/Metro Transit Center, the A Line Extension to Pomona and D Line Extension, Section 1, which greatly expanded access to key destinations across LA County and continue to drive significant increases in rail ridership. In July, rail ridership grew 16.84% to 6,592,276, marking the eighth consecutive month of rail ridership increases. Growth was strong across both weekdays and weekends but Saturdays stood out with 19.3% growth over July 2025 to 191,365 average ridership.
Other year-over-year rail ridership highlights include:
- A line ridership increased nearly 20% to 2,176,946, and Sundays grew more than 25% to 56,531 average ridership
- B/D lines saw big growth on Saturdays of 33.9% to 59,147 average ridership; overall growth was 18% to 2,034,822; the D line growth was even more impressive with a 52% increase on Saturdays over July 2024 and a 46% increase on weekdays over July 2024 (the D line was closed in July 2025 for construction)
- C line total ridership was 549,846, a 6.7% increase with consistent growth across weekdays and Sundays (despite construction impacts from the adjacent I-105 ExpressLanes that require bus transfers while work is taking place near the tracks)
- E line ridership was 1,577,868, a 16% increase, with Sundays showing the strongest growth at nearly 27% to 44,386 average ridership
- K line ridership was up nearly 11% to 252,794, and the strongest growth at 12% was on weekdays at 8,791 average ridership
Bus Ridership Continues to Grow
Bus ridership was up 6.3% year-over-year, with the biggest increase on weekends: Saturday ridership up 7.7% to 502,898 and Sunday ridership up 6% to 427,383. The J line, a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) route used by many riders for World Cup activities, was up 7.6% year-over-year. Total bus ridership in July was 19,255,341.
These numbers exclude the 212,865 rides taken on the direct enhanced service routes to Los Angeles Stadium for World Cup fans attending the matches, which were announced previously.
