VAN NUYS, CA – This past weekend, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Van Nuys Division hosted its annual toy drive at the Government Center. The 11th Annual Toys On Patrol Toy Drive And Car Show was co-hosted by the Vanguards, and brought in a significant haul of toys for our community this holiday season. Community events similar to the toy drive in Van Nuys give the LAPD and local leaders the opportunity to engage with the people in our neighborhoods and form lasting bonds and friendships that can in turn reduce crime in the future. The Van Nuys Community Police Station provides police services to the Sherman Oaks and Van Nuys neighborhoods, an area of 30 square miles with over 325,000 residents, and is under the jurisdiction of Valley Bureau.

“This annual toy drive hosted by the LAPD Van Nuys Division is a great way for our officers to participate and continue to be involved in the community under happier circumstances than when people normally need the police. Plus when events like this combine a car show with a toy drive, everyone in the community wins,” said Van Nuys Council President Emeritus George Christopher Thomas.

At the Van Nuys Community Police Station, we have identified some very important goals that are listed below. We are committed to achieving these goals to better serve the people who live and work in this area.

▪ Reduce crime and the fear of crime
▪ Provide prompt and courteous service
▪ Support community policing
