LAPD – Van Nuys Advisory: Homicide Investigation

On Saturday, June 1, 2013, at approximately 5:00 PM Jose Flores-Ruiz, a male Hispanic, 30 years of age, was in his residence at the 5800 block of Hazeltine Avenue. A neighbor reported hearing two gunshots and observed an unknown suspect, described as a male White or Hispanic, run from the residence. A short time later Flores-Ruiz’s mother and sister returned to the residence and discovered the victim had suffered two gunshot wounds to the torso. Paramedics were called to the scene and pronounced the victim dead at approximately 5:25 PM.
Detectives are examining the evidence recovered from the scene and are attempting to determine a motive for the crime.
