Washington, D.C. – The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) leadership strongly condemns President Donald Trump’s illegal military strikes on Iran, a reckless escalation that risks dragging the United States and our allies into another endless war while putting innocent lives in danger.

Rather than focusing on lowering costs for American families, the President is once again steering our nation toward conflict in the Middle East. Our thoughts are with the servicemembers and civilians throughout the region whose safety must remain our highest priority.

Under Article I, Section 8 of the Constitution, Congress alone has the power to declare war. This military action was undertaken without legal authorization or meaningful consultation with Congress and represents a clear violation of the Constitution.

We urge an immediate vote of a War Powers Resolution in Congress to halt this unauthorized war that the American people do not want.
