VAN NUYS, CA — LAPD Mission Area officers arrest an assault/ kidnap suspect after a daylong standoff in Van Nuys. On September 18, 2011, around 9 a.m., LAPD Mission Area police officers responded to a follow up investigation of an assault/ kidnap suspect who barricaded himself in his apartment in the 14600 block of Saticoy Street. The suspect refused to exit the apartment and LAPD Metropolitan SWAT officers responded.

The surrounding apartments were evacuated and the street was closed off. Detectives say that the suspect, who has been identified as 32-year-old Wember Ernesto Servellon, kidnapped his ex-girlfriend at knifepoint and forced her to his apartment. Once inside, Servellon tied the victim up and assaulted her. Later, he took the victim to eat breakfast. During that time the victim escaped and called the police. Servellon went back to his apartment and barricaded himself inside. Mission Area officers quickly responded to the suspect’s apartment where the Servellon was ultimately arrested by members of the SWAT team around 3:30 p.m.

The Suspect was transported and booked at van Nuys Jail for kidnapping for the purpose of sexual assault and was held in lieu of $1 million bail.
