LOS ANGELES, CA — Following the flare-up at the cold-storage facility in Boyle Heights, Assemblymember Mark González has issued the following statement:
“I’ve been in direct communication with the Governor’s team and Cal OES regarding the Boyle Heights solar panel cold-storage facility fire. The City has begun discussions around a potential emergency declaration, and we’re working closely with all the appropriate agencies to evaluate eligibility, coordinate resources, and ensure any requests move through the proper channels. I’ll continue staying engaged with the Governor’s Office, Cal OES, and local partners to make sure the response is handled appropriately and that our communities receive the support they need.
In the meantime, residents in affected areas should take precautions, including wearing a mask when outdoors, keeping doors and windows closed, and avoiding the use of air conditioners or ventilation systems that bring outside air indoors whenever possible.
We will continue monitoring air quality conditions closely and will share additional information, guidance, and any further protective measures as more details become available.”
Residents are encouraged to sign up to receive the City of Los Angeles’ emergency alerts here.
