Los Angeles: The Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division detectives are investigating a hit-and-run collision that left one person dead.
On September 13, 2026, around 5:00 a.m., a black SUV and a silver pickup truck were traveling southbound on Sepulveda Boulevard, south of Parthenia Street, when they struck a Black male in his 40s who was crossing westbound on Sepulveda Boulevard outside the crosswalk. Both hit-and-run vehicles continued southbound on Sepulveda Boulevard without stopping, identifying themselves, or rendering aid, as required by law.
Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male victim deceased. His name is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
Valley Traffic Division detectives are urging the public to come forward with any information about this fatal hit-and-run. Drivers are reminded that if they become involved in a collision, they should pull over and stop as soon as it is safe to do so, notify emergency services, and remain at the scene to identify themselves.
The public is also reminded that as pedestrians, they should exercise caution when crossing streets, obey traffic lights, cross within marked crosswalks, and obey the rules of the road.
On April 15, 2015, the City Council amended the Los Angeles Administrative Code and created a Hit-and-Run Reward Program Trust Fund. A reward of up to $25,000 is available to community members who provide information leading to the offender’s identification, apprehension, and conviction or resolution through a civil compromise.
