Event Features U.S. Artists and Special Exhibition of South Korea Wearable Crafts
The Smithsonian Craft2Wear Show, the Washington, D.C., area’s premier showcase and sale of contemporary wearable art, returns Friday, Sept. 25–Sunday, Sept. 27, with more than 75 artists from across the U.S. The show will feature handcrafted jewelry, accessories and clothing at a wide range of prices, offering visitors a curated selection of one-of-a-kind wearable works. Tickets are available in advance online and at the door.
In addition to the marketplace, this year’s program includes a special exhibition of wearable crafts from South Korea. “Korean Craftsmanship: Living Crafts of Gyeongsangbuk-do” will feature works by 12 South Korean artisans and is presented solely as a cultural exhibition. The pieces will not be available for sale, though information will be provided for visitors interested in purchasing them directly from the artists after the event. The Smithsonian Women’s Committee is hosting the exhibition with sponsorship from the Korean Heritage Foundation.
The show also includes a silent auction of donated items from artists. Bidding closes at 3 p.m. on Sunday. A cafe will offer lunch throughout the weekend.
Location
For the second year, Smithsonian Craft2Wear will take place at the historic Smithsonian’s Arts and Industries Building on the National Mall, between the Smithsonian Castle and the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden.
Hours and Admission
The show is open Friday, Sept. 25, through Sunday, Sept. 27, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. General admission tickets are $20 at the door or in advance online; tickets for students with ID and groups of 10 or more are $15 each.

The Arts and Industries building is near the Smithsonian Metro station, which is served by the Blue, Orange and Silver lines.
