SACRAMENTO, CA – Late last week, California Democratic Party (CADEM) Chair Rusty Hicks announced the launch of the California Voter Opinion, Trend, & Engagement Research (VOTER) Index, a new large-sample statewide polling project designed to provide a consistent snapshot of the California Governor’s race ahead of the Primary Election.
Following a recent open letter to candidates for Governor, 8 Democratic candidates filed for the Primary Election ballot. These candidates now have the opportunity to demonstrate a viable path to win in the weeks ahead.
To ensure candidates, supporters, media, and voters have a clear understanding of the current state of the race, the California Democratic Party will begin publicly releasing the California VOTER Index, starting Tuesday, March 24 with updated tracking surveys released every 7-10 days through early May.
The research will be conducted by EVITARUS Research, a Los Angeles-based public opinion research firm. EVITARUS is California’s only Black and Latina-led full-service public opinion research firm. Polling will be led by Dr. Shakari Byerly, Director of Polling and Research, in concert with Dr. Angela X. Ocampo, Senior Vice President. The Company’s leadership includes President Raquel Beltran and Chief Executive Rodrego Byerly.
The first survey will be a 2,000 sample baseline survey of likely voters in California. The following surveys will track 1,200 likely voters. All surveys will be released publicly shortly after completion.
