Sacramento, Calif. — The Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) today announced the launch of its new Public Official Financial Disclosure Portal, a cutting-edge online system that significantly expands public access to Statements of Economic Interests (Form 700s) – the financial disclosure statements filed by California’s elected and other high-level public officials – and the information provided in those statements.

Under the Political Reform Act, officials who make, participate in, or influence governmental decisions must file a Statement of Economic Interests (Form 700) disclosing certain financial interests, including investments, real property holdings, sources of income, gifts, and travel payments. These disclosures help the public identify potential conflicts of interest and ensure that officials are acting in the public’s interest.

The new portal allows users to quickly locate and download Form 700s filed with the Commission. Users can also, for the first time ever, search the financial interests disclosed within those filings, making it possible to identify specific investments, sources of income, gifts, and other interests reported by officials across California.

For example, users can search for a specific company and quickly identify what officials, if any, disclosed an interest in that company on their Form 700s.

“The launch of the Public Official Financial Disclosure Portal represents a major step forward towards meaningful transparency – searchable data that is accessible, and straightforward for the public,” said FPPC Chair Adam E. Silver. “Our goal is to get the public the information they seek related to the political process in a quick, easy, and efficient way.”

The Portal includes Form 700 filings submitted to the Commission beginning January 1, 2025, by officials required to file under Government Code Section 87200, including statewide elected officials, legislators, and other high-level government decision makers.

“The FPPC has long been at the forefront of using technology to strengthen public trust in government,” Chair Silver added. “Today’s launch reflects that commitment, and I’m proud of the team behind this effort. Every step we take to expand access to information helps strengthen the connection between Californians and the officials who represent them.”
