Metro I-105 ExpressLanes construction crews will temporarily close Interstate 110 (I-110) nightly from Imperial Highway to 120th Street for five nights, Monday, Feb. 2, through Friday, Feb. 6, as crews install electrical conduit beneath the eastbound Interstate 105 (I-105) bridge for the new ExpressLanes tolling system. The nightly overnight closures are needed to safely complete the work.
The project will transform the corridor into two ExpressLanes in each direction by converting existing HOV lanes, cutting travel times by as much as 50%. Construction on Segment 1, from Sepulveda Boulevard to Central Avenue, is underway and expected to open to traffic in 2028.
WHEN & WHERE:
Southbound I-110 Lane Closures
- Monday, Feb. 2 to Wednesday, Feb. 4, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Thursday, Feb. 5 to Friday, Feb. 6, 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
- Motorists traveling south on I-110 can detour by exiting eastbound I-105, taking the Central Avenue exit, entering the on-ramp to westbound I-105 and continuing to southbound I-110.
- Motorists traveling north on I-110 should exit at Imperial Highway/Century Boulevard, continue north on Olive Street and use the on-ramp to re-enter northbound I-110.
PROJECT BACKGROUND:
The I-105 ExpressLanes project will open its first segment ahead of the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games, boosting regional mobility for the Games while delivering lasting benefits for everyday travelers. The ExpressLanes:
- Use real-time pricing to keep traffic moving at 45 mph or faster, easing congestion, protecting neighborhood streets from spillover traffic and keeping carpools toll-free.
- Reinvest net toll revenues into local transit, active transportation and corridor improvements, building on the proven success of the Interstate 10 and I-110 ExpressLanes.
