Mile Of Quarters

Update: $36,000 raised equaling 63,000 quarters.

Local families and community members joined the Boys & Girls Club of the West Valley for its 5th Annual Mile of Quarters at the Westfield Topanga Shopping Center for an event that raised more than $36,000 to support the programs offered by the Club. A total of 63,000 quarters filled the mile.

“Mile of Quarters is always a lively and entertaining event,” said the Club’s Board Chair Gary Thomas. “It’s always amazing to see an actual mile of quarters stretched across the mall, especially when you know the funds are going to support the Club’s much-needed after-school programs.”

Elected officials who represent the area were on hand to show their support for the Club. Congressman Brad Sherman (D-Sherman Oaks) and Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis Zine (Third District) applauded the Club’s contributions to the community and made personal donations. Zine pledged to triple the amount of Sherman’s donation.

UPDATE: Reminder, The Annual Mile of Quarters is this weekend. Get your quarters and head out to the Topanga Mall….
