FAIRBANKS, ALASKA — The Alaska Salmon Bake, which is one of the oldest single family owned restaurants in Fairbanks, was started by Rick Winther in 1979. Rick is a 4th Generation Alaskan who comes from a long line of fisherman and wonderful home cooks.
Wanting to share his love of fresh fish and great food with the rest of the interior, he opened “The Bake” which became an instant Summertime tradition for locals and visitors alike. Much of the delicious fare you will taste at The Bake originated from Winther Family Recipes that have been passed down from Rick’s Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. In recent years the younger generations have continued the tradition by bringing their own original recipes to the mix, like our fabulous Chocolate “Moose” and our guest-favorite Strawberry-Rhubarb Compote.
On any given night, you can still see three generations of family working in the Midnight Sun to bring you a True Alaskan Experience that you will never forget.
