| Washington, D.C. — The Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) and the California Congressional Delegation recently hosted California State Senator Monique Limón (D–Santa Barbara), who made history on January 5, 2026, when she was sworn in as the 50th President pro Tempore of the California State Senate, becoming the first Latina and first woman of color to lead the chamber and only the second woman ever to hold the position.
