Sylmar: On April 8, 2026, around 9:15 p.m., Mission Patrol Division officers responded to an “Assault with a Deadly Weapon Cutting” radio call in the 13000 block of Dronfield Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers located the victim, later identified as 35-year-old Nancy De La Torre, inside her apartment. The victim appeared to be suffering from multiple stab wounds. Los Angeles Fire Department personnel responded and transported the victim to a local hospital, where she was pronounced deceased.

A homicide crime scene was established, and Robbery-Homicide Division, Valley Bureau Section assumed investigative responsibility of the incident.

Their investigation revealed that the victim and suspect were in a cohabitating relationship and that this was an incident of domestic violence.

The suspect was identified as 31-year-old, Sergio Jimenez, a resident of Sylmar.

Los Angeles Police Department entities including Robbery-Homicide Division, Metropolitan Division, Gang and Narcotics Division, and Mission Division conducted a perimeter search of the surrounding area, which resulted in the locating and apprehending of Jimenez in the area of Hubbard Street and the 210 Freeway.

This incident was an isolated event and there is no threat to public safety.

Sergio Jimenez was booked for 187 PC-Murder, and his bail was set at $2 million. His booking number is 7216983.
