AT THE SECRET ROSE THEATRE

The world premiere of a new musical “Bob Cratchit & Mr. Tightwad,” will open December 9 at 7:30 pm at NoHo’s Secret Rose Theatre. “Bob Cratchit & Mr. Tightwad” mixes the traditional Victorian elements of Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol” with contemporary allusion to take the 19th Century story into the 21st Century. Scrooge will still be the center of the action but Bob Cratchit will be more prominent. You’ll still find the elements of the story — the ghosts, music, family, happy endings, and generosity. However, to appeal to the 21st century audience you’ll find one of the ghosts is a rock n’ roll Goth girl. Above all, the play will fill you with the spirit of the holidays. Katrina Wood is the writer/ adapter/composer. Born into a British theatrical family (her father was film actor Percy Herbert). Tracey Oakley directs.

The cast includes Chas Mitchell (as Scrooge), Foster Walker (Cratchit), (pictured above) Emily Bridges, Jim Cox, Billy Giampaolo, Robert Keasler, Jennifer Potell, Zachary Rice, Athena Rose and Claudia Wit.
