The rustic Topanga Canyon is the setting for the Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum which was established in the early 1950’s by noted actor Will Geer. Set in a ravine, the Theatricum’s outdoor stage will feature imps, fairies, sprites, a magician, a psychic, a ghost and a creeature of the night during the Summer 2007 season. The Theatricum and their company of actors will feature four plays on a rotating basis.

The four main stage plays are tow of Shakespeare’s noted works The Tempest (6/9- 9/30), A Midsummer Night’s Dream 6/9-7/21 and 9/2-30), Noel Coward’s Blithe Sirit (6/30-9/29) and the world premiere of Ellen Geer’s adaptation of Bram Stoker’s metaphysical tragedy, Dracula (7/28-9/29). Tickets are $20 (upper tier), $25 (lower). Discounts for chilren, students, seniors and members of Actors Equity Association.

During the season the Botainicum also offers a variety of programming for the theatregoer and family. For kids the Creative PlayGround and Peter Alsop’s Kids Koncerts will present Family Fundays every Sunday and two Saturday mornings at 11 am from June 3-October 28. Tickets are $8. Botanicum Seedlings provides a venue for playwrights to present new plays with readings in the S. Mark Taper Youth Pavilion on Sundays June 3, 10, and 17 at 11 am and November 4 and 11 at noon.

You can also tote a picnic supper as there are tables and benches scattered throughout the grounds. Food is also available for purchase. Parking is available on the grounds for a fee but FREE to seniors.
