The Rainbow Plantation Is The Perfect Place To Stay For Exploring The Big Island

CAPTAIN COOK, HAWAII — The best thing about visiting Kona and the Big Island is how close everything is for enjoying snorkeling and golf, or just relaxing by the beach. The Rainbow Plantation is located in Captain Cook, just south of Kona town, and is right next to the trail that takes you to the best snorkeling spot on Planet Earth. If you do nothing else on your trip to Hawaii, you have to swim and explore the reef at the Captain Cook Monument.

The Rainbow Plantation B & B is located on a tropical and lush 3 acre former macadamia and coffee farm. It is easy to find right of the highway, yet it’s a quiet and peaceful hideaway with many birds and a large variety of tropical plants, flowers and fruit trees. All of the fruit and vegetables grown on property are organic with no chemicals used.

The Rainbow Plantation is conveniently located close to the Kealakekua Bay, and next to a hiking trail that leads to the famous Captain Cook monument. Down in the bay you can rent kayaks and swim and snorkel, often with dolphins! And to top it off, just 10 minutes away is one of the best snorkel bays in Hawaii, Honaunau, also called two-steps, and the old Hawaiian City of Refugees. Kailua-Kona town is only 15 minutes away and the airport 30 minutes.

After a healthy and relaxing breakfast, the lovely staff would love to tell you about all of the good spots to go to (and avoid) and are happy to give travel advice. They can even help you book tours and help you plan and optimize your stay here on the island.

When you plan your next Hawaiian vacation, staying south of Kona in Captain Cook is a great option. Driving into town will not take long at all, and being just a half hour from the airport is perfect if you need to pick up arriving family or sadly have to go back to the mainland.  (Check out www.rainbowplantation.com for more information.)
