Concert Series In Big Bear Kicks Off Summer

Big Bear Discovery Center’s Music in the Mountains Concert Series Begins Its 10th Season June 27 with The PettyBreakers and Fortunate Son

BIG BEAR LAKE, CA — Heartland Rock comes to the heart of the San Bernardino National Forest on Saturday, June 27. It’s the opening for 10th season of Music in the Mountains, a popular outdoor summer concert series that takes place at the Big Bear Discovery Center Amphitheater.  Paying tribute to heartland rock artist Tom Petty are The PettyBreakers, returning for an encore performance from last season. Joining the PettyBreakers is another returning favorite Fortunate Son, blending their roots-rock style for an explosive evening of greatest hits spanning three decades from the 60s to the 80s.  Together, these two ‘World’s Greatest Tribute” bands as voted by their fans will recreate the authentic sound, sights and concert experience of their legendary super groups.

The Mountains Foundation is also thrilled to welcome back its signature bands who have contributed to the popularity and success of Music in the Mountains, DSB and The Long Run, together for one night only on July 18.  Jim Curry in a Tribute to the Music of John Denver, will return to the Discovery Center stage on September 5.  In addition, two new bands will debut in Season 10 on August 1, Mirage, Visions of Fleetwood Mac, and Kenny Metcalf’s ‘ELTON’ show.

Tickets are $35 general admission; $45 bench seats with parking; $10 teens and youth 12 and under admitted Free. Tickets are on sale at BigBear.com  or 800-424-4232 and the event gate.  Parking and gates open at 5 pm; concert at 6 pm.General admission guests need to bring their own chairs for seating in the open and casual areas.  Music-loving dogs on leash are welcome & admitted Free.

All parking at the Discovery Center will be pre-paid through ticket packages.  Parking gates will open at 5 pm for each show.  General admission parking is free and available at Meadows Edge Trailhead located ¼ mile west of the Discovery Center entrance.  Free shuttles will run from 5 pm to 10 pm.   Complimentary handicap parking will be available on a first-come basis at the Discovery Center with appropriate tag or license plate as available.

Music in the Mountains is produced by the nonprofit Southern California Mountains Foundation and presented by Big Bear Vacations.  The series also partners with BigBear.com in ‘providing the best mountain experience.’  Music in the Mountains has raised thousands of dollars for forest conservation on the San Bernardino National Forest; the second busiest National Forest; and youth programs helping to grow tomorrow’s environmental leaders, today.
