Reward Offered In The Murder Of A 86-year-old Woman

LOS ANGELES, CA — Los Angeles Police Department West Bureau Homicide detectives are asking for the public’s help in providing any information that would lead to the arrest and prosecution of the suspect(s) responsible for the murder of Antonia Maria Yager.

On Sunday December 21st, 2014 Mrs. Yager attended a charity dinner at the Wilshire Country Club. After the event, a friend dropped Mrs. Yager off at her residence located in the 100 block of North Beachwood Drive. The following morning, an employee discovered Mrs. Yager deceased in her home as a result of apparent stab wounds.

Detectives have few leads and are asking for the public’s help in solving this crime. Anyone in the area of 1st Street, Beachwood Drive, and Gower Street on December 22, 2014, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 3 p.m., are encouraged to call West Bureau Homicide detectives with information regarding this incident.

Councilmember Tom LaBonge has sponsored a reward of $50,000 for information leading to the identification, apprehension and conviction, of those responsible for the murder of Antonia Yager.

Eighty six year old Antonia Maria Yager, also known to her friends and family as ‘Toni’ was originally from Holland. She came to the United States after World War II and found work as a nurse when she met her husband, the late retired Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Thomas C. Yager. Mrs. Yager became a devoted wife and a philanthropist. Philanthropy was something that was very important to her as she stayed active in many charities. As a result, she became a recognized member of the Larchmont community in the City of Los Angeles.
